We begin with reports on the election of Ursula von der Leyen as the new president of the European Commission and Angela Merkel’s appointment of Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (AKK) as Germany’s new Defense Minister, as well as British and German reactions; speak on a proposed law to make measles vaccinations mandatory in Germany; the rift between Turkey and the USA and Europe; heightened tensions with Iran; US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell; the military celebrations and their meaning during Bastille Day; and Russia’s alleged thirst for regional wars in Europe. We also speak on the find of a missile and other sophisticated weapons in the hands of Italian extremists.

We begin with ongoing disagreements between Germany and the USA, this time pertaining to ground troops in Syria; continue with Iran’s second major breach of the 2015 nuclear deal while Russia, China and Europe blame the USA for Iran’s conduct; and address Gibraltar’s detention of a Syrian oil tanker allegedly laden with Iranian oil.

Focusing on Russia, we report on Ukraine’s desire to speak with Russia over Crimea; Putin’s meeting with Pope Francis [please view our new StandingWatch program,“Trying to Appease Russia?”]; and the prevention of a nuclear catastrophe for which Russia would have been held responsible.

We address concerns regarding Angela Merkel’s health; the new leadership of Greece; the terrible immigration policies of the USA and—worse yet—Europe; strains in the “special relationship” between the USA and the UK over leaked comments made by the UK’s ambassador to the US; and the harsh fine imposed on British Airways for being the victim of criminal hackers. We also quote several court cases rendering judgments against the Trump administration.

We begin with most spectacular events in Austria and its uncertain future in light of the collapse of the Austrian coalition government following the publication of a secretly-taped video just prior to the European elections, picturing Vice-Chancellor Strache and others in a very compromising light; Strache’s resignation and the subsequent resignation of all FPO ministers in protest to Chancellor Sebastian Kurz; the appointment of “apolitical” experts as a temporary new caretaker government; an announcement that new elections would be held in September; and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz facing a no-confidence vote next week.

We also report on the ongoing Brexit disaster and the anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism of Jeremy Corbyn, leader of Britain’s Labour Party.
